A primary closet designed around a life lived between Austin and Japan.
The work
The client spent years in Asia and carried strong design convictions home with him. Shoji-inspired panels — backlit rice paper within walnut frames — honor that story while solving circulation in a high-rise floor plan.
Function and meaning in the same move.
Prior to the renovation, the layout was inefficient and created clutter.
We modified the layout and circulation through the space to increase efficiency and openness.
Shoji style doors add a textural element and romance to the space, through incorporation of silk.
Integrated walnut edge pulls in custom maple create a quiet element of interest and beauty.
